PIERRE CALVY

Passionate about fisheries sciences, I graduated from Sorbonne University and Institut Agro. After two years at the IFREMER, working on stock assessment models, I serve as public officer the french government since 2020. I contribute to lead fisheries policies to a sustainable future by implementing french and european regulations. Particularly we try to ensure that the best available science can be used for decision making.

After my graduation of a Master's in Marine Ecology at Sorbonne University and a Master's in Fisheries research at Institut Agro, I worked for 2 years on tropical tuna fisheries at Institut pour la Recherche et le Développement. I decided to quit my academic career to focus on small scale fisheries and coastal communities food sovereignty. I emigrated to Vancouver Island (Canada) in 2022 to promote local and sustainable seafood as a chef, besides working as a fisheries specialist for the survey and restoration of salmon stocks program for the Huu-ay-aht First Nation government.

JULES DANTO

Jules has been interested, from an early age, in the marine environment, he grew up on the shore of the Atlantic Ocean and after studies in fisheries and marine socio-ecosystems management, he went to the IFREMER. Then, experience progressively oriented him toward the institutional field and he has been working in several french embassies with a strong focus on environment, sustainability, marine and Arctic issues.
